Valeria interviews Grace Avalon, the author of Thank God I’m Crazy: My Journey to Sanity.

How is it possible to tell you that you are walking with the light of God in you? People travel to wonder at the mountains, the seas, the rivers, the stars, and yet they pass themselves by without wondering. Don’t put prophets on pedestals . . . look in the mirror.

When visions Grace Avalon experienced actually came true over twenty years, she was startled to discover that this journey called life, is merely waking up from our own insanity—and that God is in all things.  Wisdom comes in trusting life—not the illusion.  When we are in joy, we are in truth. 

At twenty-two, Grace left her body to be swept into luminous kaleidoscopic light-bearing images of places she’d never seen.  Escaping from her abusive life and marriage—in joyous laughter she surrendered to its beauty, and was briefly placed in a mental hospital by her husband. Coming out, Grace saw a world of betrayal, fear and war.  This was insanity.  The sanity was the love she came to know in the light.  In her memoir of surreal coincidences is also found a miraculous new level of forgiveness.  Life is a working, self-correcting dream, and a treasure hunt to uncover love’s sanity which leads us to a joyous awakening . . . and . . . teaches us how to lighten up!

With renewed vision, we can also see that everything in our seeming physical existence, things, places, objects, our bodies—are all symbolic inner-active reflections which are used by Spirit to guide us to awakening. “Symbols are a psychological mechanism that transforms meaning.”  Carl Jung.  Everyone has their own guiding symbols—their own inner voice—and the power of choice.

Grace’s path out of hell also becomes a demonstration of A Course in Miracles made practical.   Her memoir, Thank God I’m Crazy, includes pictures of places that actually occurred, as seen in her visions. 

Grace Avalon, a graduate of Hood College, Frederick, MD., BA in education, minor in psychology, is certified in Psychosynthesis, a body, mind, and spirit counseling program, and has taught A Course in Miracles for nine years.
